Quick explanation
OneTutor primarily uses your uploaded course materials to generate answers. Depending on your settings, OneTutor may also use the AI model’s general knowledge to fill gaps or provide clearer explanations. This can lead to answers that go beyond what is explicitly covered in your materials.
Why does this happen?
Materials are incomplete (e.g., missing definitions, intermediate steps, or context).
Learners ask for background concepts not explicitly included in the course content.
Depending on Answer strictness, OneTutor is allowed to use general model knowledge in addition to your materials.
How to adjust Answer strictness (recommended)
Open the course.
Go to Edit course (Course Manager view).
Open Advanced settings.
Set Answer strictness (e.g., Strict vs. Normal/Flexible).
Save changes.
Which setting should I choose?
Strict (course materials only): Best for exam‑focused courses and maximum control. Side effect: OneTutor may more often respond that it cannot find the answer in the materials.
Normal / Flexible (materials + additional knowledge): Best for richer explanations, context, and examples. Side effect: The response may include information not explicitly stated in your materials.
Best practices for reliable answers
Upload complete and up‑to‑date materials (scripts, problem sets, glossaries).
Keep a clear chapter structure and only publish chapters that are relevant.
Encourage learners to ask questions in context (e.g., referencing a chapter).
Note on AI systems
Even with safeguards, AI can occasionally be inaccurate. OneTutor is designed to reduce this risk, but cannot guarantee perfect correctness in every case.
