Roles & Rights

Which Roles & Rights do exist in OneTutor

Written by Tobias Maier

OneTutor distinguishes between two core user roles: Learners and Instructors

Users with instructor rights can create and manage courses in OneTutor. The course materials explicitly note that anyone who should be able to create courses must have the appropriate instructor permissions.

Learners

Learners use OneTutor to access courses and work with the learning content provided in them. Depending on the course setup, this can include:

  • accessing course materials

  • using the AI chat

  • completing quizzes

  • participating in course-based learning activities

Instructors

Instructors can create and manage courses. Their responsibilities may include:

  • creating new courses

  • uploading and organizing materials

  • creating and editing quiz questions

  • reviewing course activity and learner progress

  • configuring course settings

Only users with the required instructor permissions can create courses.

Additional roles within a course

Within a specific course, OneTutor can also distinguish between different management functions:

  • Course owner: The main person responsible for the course.

  • Co-managers: Additional team members who can be invited to help manage the course, for example by uploading materials or creating quiz questions.
