Sharing your course, visibility & security

Written by Nicolas Ebner

Your materials are secure

πŸ” OneTutor is only accessible to authorized users.

Access to your course is restricted by default through your institution's login.

Only learners from your institution can use OneTutor.

In addition, you can further secure and control your course as needed.

πŸ”‘ Access protection for your course

πŸ”’ You can additionally protect your course with a password.

When enabled:

  • Only people from your institution

  • and with the course password

    can join the course.

πŸ’‘ Best practice:

Share the password right next to the OneTutor course link β€” for example in your LMS, on the course website, or in your lecture slides.

πŸ‘οΈ Visibility of your course

You can decide whether your course:

  • appears in OneTutor's course search for learners at your institution

  • or is only accessible via a direct link

πŸ”— Sharing your course

For learners to use OneTutor, they need to know about your course.

Access is typically provided via a direct course link that you share.

You'll find everything you need under the "Share course" button in your course overview in OneTutor:

πŸ“Ž Sharing via link

The course link can easily be shared, for example:

πŸ’‘ The course link is the recommended default way.

πŸ“± Sharing via QR code

Additionally, the course can be shared as a QR code:

  • embedded in slides

  • shown in the lecture hall

  • printed on handouts

Learners can open the course directly on their smartphone.

πŸ” How sharing works together with access protection

Regardless of how you share the course, the following applies:

  • Only learners from your institution can join

  • A password may also be required (optional)

πŸ’‘ Sharing a link or QR code does not mean public access.

🧠 OneTutor as a complement to your LMS

OneTutor is designed as an extension of existing LMS systems.

We are working towards deep integration with common LMS platforms such as Moodle.

Currently:

  • Materials still need to be uploaded in parallel

  • Organizational course management stays in your LMS

  • OneTutor adds AI chat, interactive learning, and quizzes on top

πŸ“¦ Deactivating a course

In the course settings, you can deactivate all features of a course. Learners will then no longer be able to use it. This can be useful, for example, to switch OneTutor off during an exam and prevent learners from easily looking up answers.

⚠️ Deleting a course

Courses can be fully deleted on request.

To do this, please contact us at [email protected] and let us know which course should be deleted.

However, this is often not necessary. If you've set up a test course, you can simply remove it from search using the course visibility setting. It will then no longer be discoverable by others.
